Granola

From Mr. Breakfast. Makes about 7 cups.

4 c. old fashion oats

1 c. flaked coconut

1/4 c. chopped walnuts

1/4 wheat germ (I didn’t use this)

1/4 c. sunflower seeds (or this)

1/4 c. raisins (I used dried cherries instead)

1/4 c. margarine

1/4 c. brown sugar

1/4 c. honey

2 tbsp vegetable oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tsp maple syrup

1/4 tsp salt

  1. In a large bowl combine the oats, walnuts, wheat germ, sunflower seeds and coconut. In a saucepan, on medium heat, stir margarine, brown sugar, honey, oil, flavorings, and salt together until well mixed. Pour over oat mixture and stir to coat evenly. Pour onto a well-greased baking pan.
  2. Bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour or until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from oven and let cool before storing in an airtight container.
